With Carolus IX, Fredrik af Klercker wanted to unite four centuries of craftsmanship with timeless elegance. The softly curved tonneau shape, inspired by the legendary designs from the early 20th century, gives the watch a refined yet confident character. The name comes from the French word for “barrel”, a form that symbolizes both strength and harmony. The numerals on the dial were taken from a traditional clock from Västmanland, a tribute to Skultuna’s heritage.
The model is named after Skultuna’s founder, King Charles IX. Fredrik af Klercker wanted Carolus IX to represent the finest blend of Swedish and European watchmaking tradition: a watch for life, created to accompany its wearer as naturally with black tie as by the sea.
